Channelling your inner Monica Geller with a clipboard and a laminated schedule? We salute you. But how do you stop the stress stealing the sparkle? Enter <a href="https://cavendishevents.com/">Cavendish Events</a>’ dynamic duo – Molly Packman and Bee McLoughlin – who have seen it all (as well as weddings, they cater the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic and Henley Royal Regatta), saved more than one cake disaster, and still cry every time the bride walks in. (Yes,&nbsp;<em>every</em>&nbsp;time.)</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-tell-us-about-the-very-first-wedding-you-ever-planned-was-it-love-at-first-aisle">Tell us about the very first wedding you ever planned – was it love at first aisle?</h2>



<p>My [Molly&#8217;s] first Cavendish wedding was very much behind-the-scenes – I was running the timings, making sure everything flowed. Later I worked with a couple right from their first tasting to the final meeting. Being there from the “shall we try the chicken again?” moment to their actual vows was so special.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-most-memorable-wedding-you-ve-ever-catered-for">Most memorable wedding you’ve ever catered for?</h2>



<p>A Chinese bride and French groom – the way they played with each other&#8217;s cultures, blending the two and introducing both cultures was something I hadn&#8217;t seen before and it was very special. The parents even did speeches in each other’s languages. (Not a dry eye in the house.)</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-s-the-very-first-thing-couples-should-do-once-they-get-engaged-and-start-planning">What’s the very first thing couples should do once they get engaged and start planning?</h2>



<p>Write down every wild idea before it evaporates. Don’t compromise straight away. Get the dream list down, then check the venue and catering match the vision – there’s nothing worse than booking your dream barn only to realise it’s 200 miles from Granny. And yes, budget reality check before you fall in love with the castle.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-one-detail-that-makes-a-wedding-unforgettable">One detail that makes a wedding unforgettable?</h2>



<p>Personal thank-you notes hidden on the back of menus. Guests love it,<em> and</em> it makes the plus-ones feel involved. Private in-jokes also go down well – a cocktail named after your dog, napkins with his face on. Guests feel like insiders, and you’ll cherish those little nods forever.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-where-do-couples-blow-the-budget-and-where-should-they-spend-it">Where do couples blow the budget (and where should they spend it)?</h2>



<p>Flip-flops and umbrellas are well-meant but are always left behind. Lindt chocolate bunnies? Gone in a flash. Bathroom baskets? They never make it home. Save your cash for cocktail hour. A tequila shot as a place setting – nobody’s leaving that behind.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-thing-couples-always-forget">The thing couples always forget?</h2>



<p><strong>Molly: </strong>Funnily enough, there’s not many things that couples forget, apart from feeding suppliers. Photographers, videographers, bands – they’ll be there all day and yes, they need food. We’ve got you covered, but it’s an easy one to overlook.</p>

<p>We had a cake saga! There was the buttercream cake sliding slowly into oblivion on a hot day. We caught the top tier mid-swoon, smoothed out the fingerprints, and no one was the wiser. Then there was the wedding where the plates never arrived. Cue us hot-footing it to suppliers and back in record time. Guests never knew.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-your-number-one-tip-for-staying-sane">Your number one tip for staying sane?</h2>



<p>Stop worrying about whether everyone else is having the best day of their lives. It’s your wedding – prioritise what you actually enjoy. Trust your suppliers. What you’ve discussed in meetings&nbsp;<em>will</em>&nbsp;happen. Also, grooms who are ready suspiciously early? Sit tight – we promise everything’s coming together behind the scenes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-would-you-plan-your-own-wedding-or-call-the-pros">Would you plan your own wedding or call the pros?</h2>



<p><strong>Bee:</strong>&nbsp;I’d plan my own – I don’t even have a partner yet but my Pinterest board is ready to roll.<br><strong>Molly:</strong>&nbsp;I’m the opposite. I’ve seen so many amazing ideas I’d want them all. I’ll be calling in favours left, right and centre.</p>
