Bottle & Glass Inn, Binfield Heath

Muddy says: This looks like a trad country pub but the exquisite menu is anything but. The team previously won a Michelin star and we can totally see why.

This may look like your classic village pub on first glance – thatched roof, beamed dining room, beer garden – but when it comes to the food, we are definitely NOT talking pub grub. The team here once ran the Harwood Arms in Fulham, which was the first pub and only pub in London to win a Michelin star. That means a menu that includes dishes such as roast Berkshire chicken (they try to keep it local where poss) with charred leeks, black pudding and king oyster mushrooms and roasted Cornish grey mullet with cauliflower, hazelnut, smoked cod roe and golden raisins. Er, YUM!

Binfield Heath is 10 minutes south of Henley and 10 minutes north of Reading, but I would travel from a lot further afield to try food this tantalising.
