I had a great cut and colour at Lifestyle in Aylesbury last year and I was a bit ashamed that I’d walked past it so many times on the high street. Less flash looking than Toni & Guy a few doors up, it offers super-powered service (10 minute head massages are standard, people!), and a single stylist/colourist service which I really like.

A good value option too compared to the more shiny, posh salons that proliferate – the creative director is £54 for a cut which is – I’m sorry, I have to say it – a total snip.

There’s also a second Lifestyle salon in Milton Keynes if you live up that way.
