Secret gig with Rob Brydon!
Ooooh! Secret gig alert! Rob Brydon has agreed to perform his tour show I Am Standing Up in The Potters Arms marquee on the village green in the hamlet of Winchmore Hill, to help owner Richard buy the pub outright. Firmly on the comedy circuit map, this simple, rustic pub attracts the most bonkersly A-list comedians month after month. I went to see Zoe Lyons here a while back and it was one of the funniest nights of my year. There are only 300 tickets up for grabs for this intimate gig on Weds 28 Feb – it should be an amazing night. Ticket prices should be released this week.
Pop up delights at GAF – a six month residency for Hyper Ramen, ready for your noodley attention.Guy Hatfield, a DJ from Forest Hill, who spent time in Japan and became a bit of a ramen connoisseur is the guy behind the project. Four ramen options to choose from, plus Japanese beers, Tap Social brews and sake. It opened in mid Nov and I’m about to sumo my way over there.
The Lotus Retreat, Faringdon
The Lotus Retreat
officially opens in Faringdon today (Weds 6 Dec), relocated from Great Coxwell, and it’s a real boon for the quiet South Oxon town, as it includes a lovely boutique (think India – pashminas, silver jewellery and paintings) , holistic therapies and yoga studio.
Sri Lankan street food joint The Coconut Tree
soft launched on Saturday but is now going hard at it, in the old Joe Perks venue in St Clements, Oxford. Already with one successful venture in Cheltenham, it offers Tapas style food with under 10s eating free. Handy!
